If I counted the number of times I had heard this while in direct proximity to women enjoying, producing, and purchasing comics, it would be a very high number indeed. This reminded me of the first time I went to Free Comic Book Day. There was a family standing in front of us and the mom said, “There doesn’t seem to be any comics for girls.”There we were, a group of 5 young ladies, standing behind her and we couldn’t it believe she said it. Does she mean that even Wonder Woman and Batgirl aren’t suited for girls? Then what was she doing in a comic book store in the first place?
